Containers have emerged as one of the most popular software technologies for managing applications. They enable applications to be developed, shipped and run in a standardized, lightweight and portable fashion. Kubernetes has become the de facto standard for managing containerized applications by automating the processes for deploying, scaling and managing containers. Azure provides a full range of options for working with containers and Kubernetes.
This half-day session provides an introduction to the fundamentals of containers and Kubernetes. It is intended for developers, decision makers, and administrators, and it surveys the major ways to deploy containerized applications in Azure. The session begins with coverage of the Azure Container Registry (ACR), the registry in Azure for storing and sharing container images, and the Azure Container Instance (ACI), which represents the simplest and fastest way to deploy a containerized application to the cloud. The session continues with a discussion of Azure Container Apps, which provide greater flexibility while still not requiring a complex management infrastructure. The event concludes with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), the container service in Azure that offers the greatest flexibility and the widest range of deployment features.
